2023 World Senior Weightlifting Championship begins at Ministry of Sports Hall

The highly anticipated 2023 World Senior Weightlifting Championship is set to commence today, Sunday, at the prestigious Ministry of Sports Hall, located within the esteemed Prince Faisal bin Fahd Olympic Complex.

The upcoming event is set to be graced by the esteemed presence of Mohammed Jalood, the President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), alongside the distinguished heads of the national federations who will be taking part in this highly anticipated tournament.

The organizing committee of the championship has completed all necessary preparations for the highly anticipated global event, which is set to make history in the realm of weightlifting. With participation in this edition being a requirement for qualification for the upcoming Paris 2024 Olympics, the stage is set for an unprecedented competition of strength and skill. The highly anticipated championship is set to showcase the talents of an impressive 2,500 athletes hailing from over 170 countries worldwide.

In a display of meticulous planning and foresight, the organizing committee for the championship embarked on their preparations well over a year ago, immediately after the momentous announcement that Riyadh would be the esteemed host city. In a meticulous display of organizational prowess, a series of crucial preparations have been undertaken to ensure the smooth execution of the upcoming event. Among these preparations are the issuance of visas, the careful selection of nine top-tier hotels to house the numerous participating delegations, and the meticulous appointment of various teams to handle logistical, media, medical, administrative, and volunteer duties.

In a bid to uphold the Kingdom's esteemed reputation in the realm of weightlifting, the organizers of the championship have forged agreements with renowned international companies specializing in sports equipment. These strategic partnerships aim to guarantee that the upcoming event is executed with the utmost precision and adherence to the highest standards of excellence.

In a significant development, the committee has made a noteworthy allocation of resources to ensure smooth transportation for the athletes. A total of 20 buses have been designated for this purpose, operating tirelessly for 16 hours each day. This strategic decision aims to facilitate the movement of the athletes, enabling them to reach their destinations efficiently and on time. Additionally, the committee has also provided a substantial number of training platforms, further emphasizing their commitment to creating an optimal training environment for the athletes. These platforms will undoubtedly play a crucial role in enhancing the athletes' preparation, allowing them to hone their skills and excel in their respective disciplines.

The President of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) praised the exceptional dedication displayed by the organizing committee in guaranteeing the triumphant outcome of the championship.

In a recent statement, the speaker emphasized the remarkable triumph of the 2021 World Youth Weightlifting Championship, which took place in Jeddah. This prestigious event left a lasting impression on the global weightlifting community, ultimately resulting in the Kingdom being chosen as the inaugural destination on the journey towards the highly anticipated Paris 2024 Olympics.

Matyas Lencser, the Competition Manager of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), expressed high praise for the exceptional daily training and competition facilities. In addition, he stressed the significance of the training venues' close proximity to the accommodation facilities, highlighting the meticulous efforts undertaken by the organizing committee to guarantee the triumph of the championship.
