AlUla to host Drone Champions League Super Final 2023 in collaboration

AlUla, December 18, 2023, The Royal Commission for AlUla, in collaboration with strategic partners Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones and the Saudi E-Sports Federation, has announced the hosting of the Drone Champions League Super Final 2023 in the ancient city of AlUla. This marks a significant milestone in AlUla's ambition to become a global destination for E-Sports and the Drone Gaming industry.

Organized by the DCL Drone Champions League, the Super Final is set to take place on December 20, 2023, at AlUla's Old Town. The event will showcase an extraordinary display of skill, innovation, and technology against the backdrop of AlUla's Old Town, recognized by the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) as one of the world's Best Tourism Villages in 2022.

Rami AlMoallim, Vice President of Destination Management and Marketing at the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU), expressed excitement about welcoming the DCL Drone Champions League Super Final 2023 to AlUla. He emphasized AlUla's historical significance as a gathering place on the old Incense Trading Route and the commitment to showcasing its beauty to the world.

The collaboration with the Saudi Federation for Cybersecurity, Programming, and Drones and the Saudi E-Sports Federation reflects Saudi Arabia's ambitions to lead in drone racing sports and technical fields globally. The event is a part of the Kingdom's efforts to become a hub for gaming and E-Sports.

Faisal Bin Homran, Chief Esports Officer at Saudi Esports Federation, highlighted the commitment to making the Kingdom a global hub for the gaming and esports industry, and the DCL Super Final in AlUla is considered a significant milestone in reshaping the future of esports in the Kingdom.

Markus Stampfer, Chairman of the Board of DCL Drone Champions League, emphasized that the Super Final 2023 in AlUla would not only showcase the skill and innovation of competing teams but also highlight the cultural significance of the location. The collaboration with local authorities aims to benefit the AlUla community and promote sustainable tourism.

The event, the first Super Final ever held in a GCC country, is set to raise interest in the local population and provide opportunities for collaboration in the E-Sports sector in AlUla and Saudi Arabia. The unique event blends physical and virtual elements, with pilots stationed in AlUla maneuvering their drones virtually within the amphitheater.
