Arab Parliament backs UN ceasefire resolution for Gaza during Ramadan

Cairo, March 26, 2024, The Arab Parliament has extended its support for the United Nations Security Council resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. In a recent statement, the Arab Parliament acknowledged the resolution, albeit issued belatedly and with a limited time frame, as a crucial step towards halting Israeli aggression in a comprehensive and lasting manner.

Emphasizing the urgency of the situation, the Arab Parliament urged for intensified international efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire in Gaza. The statement highlighted the critical need to deliver humanitarian aid promptly to prevent the deepening humanitarian crisis and famine in the Gaza Strip, further underlining the imperative of ending the occupation and establishing an independent Palestinian state, with Jerusalem recognized as its capital.

The Arab Parliament's stance reflects a unified call within the Arab world for decisive action to address the ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges in Gaza. By endorsing the UN resolution and advocating for broader international engagement, the Arab Parliament underscores its commitment to promoting peace, stability, and the realization of Palestinian aspirations for statehood and sovereignty.
