Asian shares show mixed performance, AP reports Thursday

Bangkok, March 28, 2024, On Thursday, Asian shares exhibited a mixed performance, as reported by the Associated Press. Here's a summary of the key movements in various markets:

1. Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index experienced a decline of 1.2%, settling at 40,283.44.

2. The Kospi index in Seoul also registered a slight decrease, edging 0.1% lower to reach 2,751.22.

3. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index displayed strength, gaining 1.1% and closing at 16,579.99.

4. The Shanghai Composite index in China advanced by 1.2%, closing at 3,029.01.

5. Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index saw a notable jump of 0.9%, reaching 7,887.00.

In commodities trading, U.S. benchmark crude oil experienced an increase of 38 cents, reaching $81.73 per barrel in electronic trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange. Similarly, Brent crude, the international standard, added 33 cents to reach $85.74 per barrel.

Regarding currency movements, the dollar strengthened slightly against the yen, rising to 151.37 yen from 151.30 yen. Conversely, the euro weakened slightly, slipping to $1.0822 from $1.0828.
