Asian shares show mixed performance on Wednesday: AP report

Bangkok, March 27, 2024, On Wednesday, Asian shares exhibited a mixed performance, as reported by the Associated Press. Hong Kong's Hang Seng index experienced a decline of 0.8%, closing at 16,485.26, while the Shanghai Composite index also saw a decrease of 0.5%, settling at 3,015.74.

Conversely, Tokyo's Nikkei 225 index saw a gain of 1.1%, reaching 40,848.95, and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 index added 0.2% to close at 7,799.10.

In commodities trading, US benchmark crude oil dropped by 62 cents to $81.00 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, while Brent crude, the international standard, declined by 67 cents to $84.96 per barrel.

Regarding currency markets, the US dollar strengthened against the Japanese yen, rising to 151.73 yen from 151.56 yen. Conversely, the euro slipped slightly, decreasing to $1.0826 from $1.0833.
