Asian stocks rose, as per Associated Press report on Thursday

Tokyo, October 12, 2023, The Associated Press reported that Asian stocks increased on Thursday. The benchmark Nikkei 225 index for Japan increased 1.8% to close at 32,494.66. The S&P/ASX 200 index in Sydney increased by less than 0.1% to 7,091.00. The Kospi in South Korea increased 1.1% to 2,477.54. Shanghai Composite increased 0.9% to 3,106.21, and Hong Kong's Hang Seng increased 2.2% to 18,283.66. In the oil market, New York Mercantile Exchange benchmark U.S. crude dropped 27 cents to $83.23 a barrel in electronic trading. The benchmark, Brent crude, dropped 47 cents to $85.35 a barrel.

The US dollar increased in value during currency trading, moving from 149.07 Japanese yen to 149.11. It now costs $1.0638 for a euro, up from $1.0626.
