Madinah, January 25, 2024, The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques continues its efforts to enhance and develop services at the Prophet's Holy Mosque, ensuring the accommodation of thousands of worshippers around the clock. The authority focuses on ongoing sterilization and cleaning operations covering vast areas inside the mosque and its external squares. The primary goal is to provide a safe and healthy environment for worshippers during the five daily prayer times.
To achieve this, hundreds of workers engaged in cleaning and disinfecting programs utilize a combination of manual and mechanical equipment. They work diligently to clean and sanitize all parts of the Prophet's Mosque, including its squares and doors. Using stairs and escalators, they ensure thorough cleaning of every section and facility within the mosque, managing to clean an impressive 20,000 carpets per day. This extensive cleaning effort is particularly concentrated during peak hours and on Fridays.
A recent tour by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) observed the cleaning operations at the Prophet's Mosque and its external squares during the evening period before the Isha prayer. The presence of a large number of worshippers was met with intensified cleaning activities in outdoor squares and corridors. The cleaning procedures follow a well-designed field program that facilitates the smooth movement of pedestrians and the entry and exit of worshippers through the mosque's 100 doors in both the men's and women's sections.
To further enhance the environment, air propulsion devices are activated at the entrances to parking lots leading to the mosque's squares. Following the cleaning and disinfection processes, a fragrance program is implemented throughout the mosque. This ensures a pleasant atmosphere for the worshippers, particularly as they gather before prayers in Al-Rawdah Al-Sharifa and the corridors, fostering an environment of peace and tranquility for the performance of religious rituals across the entire mosque.
