Cabinet approves new by-law for media regulation, minister expresses gratitude

Riyadh, September 12, 2023, On the occasion of the Cabinet's decision to approve the new by-law for the General Authority of Media Regulation, Salman bin Yousef Al-Dosari, Minister of Media and Chairman of the General Authority of Media Regulation, expressed his sincere gratitude and appreciation to King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince and Prime Minister. The minister stressed that by bringing all media content under the authority's jurisdiction, this action aims to support locally generated content. The decision also intends to promote job growth by creating a favorable investment environment for both domestic businesses and international direct investments in the Kingdom's numerous media-related economic activities. It also aims to incorporate the most recent regional and global trends and industry best practices. By diversifying the national economy's sources, this strategy is intended to assist in achieving the goals outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. He stated his belief that this decision, which places media regulation under the General Authority of Media Regulation's purview, will considerably aid in realizing the goals of the wise leadership and advancing the Saudi media system.
