Abu Dhabi, October 11, 2023, The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) actively participated in the International Council on Archives (ICA) Congress Abu Dhabi 2023, commencing at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center under the esteemed patronage of UAE Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Darah's CEO, Turki Al-Shuwaier, graced the opening ceremony with his presence. The organization's membership in ICA, in conjunction with the diverse range of specialists, has facilitated valuable collaborations, updates, and knowledge sharing in the archival field.
Under the congress theme "Enriching Knowledge Societies," workshops were conducted to promote knowledge and explore various facets of archival work. Experts, specialists, archivists, and thought leaders from across the globe convened to examine innovative approaches to information provision and access in contemporary societies.
Darah showcased a specialized exhibition on the congress sidelines, accompanied by a film highlighting its five-decade journey in serving communities and advancing knowledge dissemination among diverse populations, fostering lasting friendships and productive global cooperation for peace.
Darah also actively engaged in a workshop titled "Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives and Promising Opportunities for Archives: Green Ideas and Observations," led by Dr. Sulieman Al-Shuhri, Executive Director of the Saudi Center for Digital Content, and Abdullah Al-Sarra. The organization also participated in the coordination meeting of Arab Regional Branch of ICA (ARBICA) members, discussing the potential for hosting quarterly scientific meetings, a scientific symposium for the International Archives Day next year, and launching a collaborative training project to leverage unique experiences and expertise exchange.
