Eng. Soltan Al-Jurais led Saudi delegation at APCMC in Jordan

Dead Sea, April 28, 2024, Saudi Arabia's Acting Deputy Minister of Human Resources and Social Development for Social Development, Eng. Soltan Al-Jurais, spearheaded the Kingdom's delegation at the 11th Asia-Pacific Cooperative Ministers' Conference (APCMC) held in the Dead Sea region, Jordan, spanning from April 28 to 30, 2024.

During the conference, Eng. Al-Jurais delivered a pivotal address underlining the indispensable role of the cooperative sector in fostering both developmental and economic progress, particularly in the context of achieving sustainable development goals (SDGs). He underscored the Kingdom's commitment to economic empowerment, specifically targeting socially vulnerable groups.

He elaborated on collaborative efforts with public and private sector partners to establish cooperatives geared toward generating employment opportunities and bolstering production capacities within specific sectors. Eng. Al-Jurais also shed light on recent Saudi initiatives geared toward propelling the growth of the cooperative sector domestically.

In a significant meeting on the sidelines of the conference, Eng. Al-Jurais engaged with Dr. Ariel Guarco, President of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA), to review the ministry's notable achievements within the cooperative sector over recent years. Their discussions delved into mutual areas of interest, accentuating the importance of strengthening partnerships between the ministry and the ICA across various domains.

Furthermore, the dialogue encompassed the exploration of global best practices and insights gleaned from member countries within the alliance, underscoring the pivotal role of the cooperative sector in driving economic and social development agendas within the Kingdom.
