FenaaPhone exhibition in Riyadh showcases rare Saudi folk music collection

Riyadh, September 19, 2023, On Monday, the Fenaa Alawwal cultural center in Riyadh's Diplomatic Quarter opened the FenaaPhone exhibition, which features a rare musical collection documenting the history of Saudi folk music from the 1950s. People interested in Saudi music history, the evolution of Saudi folk music, the role it has played in shaping the modern cultural scene, and the appreciation of its forefathers will find this exhibition to be an extraordinary experience. It also contains a wealth of antique photographs, concert posters, and cassette records from the past.

The exhibition presents a curated dialogue in five sections: Folk to Formal, which examines the earliest music and its structural shifts; Tuning from Within, which elaborates on the beginnings of the local music industry; We Are Now Live, which guides visitors through a maturing regional and global music scene; Make it Pop!, which showcases the influence of print and its critical coverage of events; and Voices of the Current, which investigates the musical scene in contemporary television.

The exhibit runs until October 12 and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., with extended hours from 4 to 10 p.m. on Fridays. Visit https://www.ticketmx.com/ar/d/3981/fenaaphone to register for the event if you're interested in attending.
