Saudi Arabia and Kuwait have jointly claimed ownership of natural resources in the "Divided Area"

Riyadh, Aug 3, 2023, In a recent announcement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait have jointly asserted their ownership of the natural resources in the maritime "Divided Area." This includes the highly coveted Al-Durra gas field. Both nations maintain their full sovereign rights to exploit the resources found within this area.

In a significant development, the Kingdom and Kuwait have once again emphasized their unwavering stance, urging the Islamic Republic of Iran to actively participate in negotiations pertaining to the eastern border of the maritime Divided Area. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait have united their voices, advocating for a unified representation in these negotiations, while Iran is expected to represent the opposing party.

In a statement released by the Ministry, it has been emphasized that the ongoing negotiations must adhere to the standards set by international law and the principles of good neighborliness.
