GCC member states condemn Israeli aggression on Gaza Strip

Geneva, March 26, 2024, The member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) have collectively voiced their strong disapproval of any justifications or excuses for the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Gaza Strip. In a joint statement, the GCC countries emphasized the urgent need for the international community to take decisive measures to end the conflict, ensure the consistent delivery of humanitarian aid, and hold accountable those responsible for the violations against the Palestinian people.

This statement was delivered by Qatar on behalf of the GCC during the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC) interactive dialogue with special rapporteur Francesca Albanese concerning the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories. Qatar, speaking for the GCC, specifically highlighted the Israeli occupying power's continuous use of tactics such as starvation, hindrance of humanitarian aid access, and threats of invasion in cities like Rafah as unacceptable actions that must be addressed.

The GCC countries called for an end to double standards in international dealings and urged immediate action to stop the genocide and grave violations being committed by what they referred to as the "Israeli killing machine" against Palestinians. Furthermore, they commended the efforts of the special rapporteur in documenting these crimes and condemned any attempts to obstruct her work. The GCC also encouraged the rapporteur to continue fulfilling her crucial role as entrusted by the UNHRC.

This unified stance from the GCC member states reflects their unwavering support for the rights and welfare of the Palestinian people and their commitment to advocating for justice and accountability on the international stage.
