GCC Secretary-General announces significant decisions endorsed by Ministerial Council

Riyadh, March 03, 2024, The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Mohammed Albudaiwi, has unveiled a series of pivotal decisions endorsed during the 159th session of the GCC Ministerial Council, aimed at fortifying collective Gulf endeavors. Albudaiwi elaborated that the session extensively reviewed reports pertaining to the implementation of resolutions adopted during the 44th GCC Supreme Council Summit held in Doha.

This landmark session, convened on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at the General Secretariat headquarters in Riyadh, was presided over by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Qatar, Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani.

Albudaiwi underscored the significance of sideline meetings conducted individually with the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, and the Kingdom of Morocco, emphasizing their role in fostering and reinforcing the GCC's collaborative engagements with regional and international counterparts.

Moreover, the Secretary-General noted that the session delved into numerous memoranda and reports presented by ministerial, technical, and general secretariat committees. Discussions encompassed dialogues and strategic relations between GCC nations and international entities, with a comprehensive analysis of the latest regional and global developments.

Highlighting another key aspect, Albudaiwi highlighted a briefing from the General Coordinator of Negotiations, who also serves as the Head of the Negotiating Team of the GCC. The briefing encompassed a comprehensive overview of signed agreements and ongoing negotiations, with active preparations for future signings with several countries in the pipeline.

Of notable importance, the meeting witnessed the participation of Foreign Ministers from GCC countries, indicative of the collaborative ethos underpinning the discussions and decisions taken during this momentous gathering.
