Riyadh, February 5, 2024, Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi, the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), welcomed Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Jaber, the Saudi Ambassador to the Republic of Yemen and General Supervisor of the Saudi Development and Reconstruction Program for Yemen (SDRPY), at the Secretariat General headquarters in Riyadh.
During their meeting, Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC's unwavering support for initiatives aimed at achieving a comprehensive political resolution to the Yemeni crisis, in accordance with the GCC initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Yemeni National Dialogue Conference (NDC), and United Nations Security Council Resolution no. 2216. He affirmed the GCC's backing for Yemeni legitimacy, represented by the Presidential Leadership Council led by Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi, in its pursuit of political stability.
Furthermore, Albudaiwi commended the sincere endeavors of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Sultanate of Oman to revitalize the political process under the auspices of the United Nations, striving to attain a comprehensive and sustainable solution to alleviate the plight of the Yemeni people. The meeting also addressed recent developments in the Republic of Yemen, the Red Sea, and the Gulf of Aden.
Concluding the discussions, Albudaiwi lauded the ongoing support extended by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Yemeni people, emphasizing its integral role within the broader fraternal efforts made by GCC countries to aid Yemen. He also praised the notable contributions of SDRPY, particularly its implementation of economic and developmental projects, which have significantly eased the suffering of the Yemeni people.
