GDNC Seizes 693 Kg Hashish in Asir Region
Riyadh, July 26, 2023, In a recent statement, Major Marwan Al-Hazmi, the spokesperson for the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), revealed the successful outcome of three security operations conducted by the directorate. These operations resulted in the confiscation of a staggering 693 kg of hashish, which had been cleverly concealed in multiple locations across the Asir Region. Additionally, law enforcement authorities managed to apprehend a total of nine individuals involved in this illicit trade. Among the arrested were five Ethiopian nationals, an Indian resident, and four citizens. The GDNC's relentless efforts to combat drug trafficking continue to yield significant results, ensuring the safety and security of the region. Ten individuals have been officially referred to the Public Prosecution, marking a significant development in the ongoing investigation. In a bid to combat the ongoing issue of drug smuggling and selling, security authorities have issued a public appeal, urging citizens to play an active role in reporting any related information. The authorities have designated emergency hotlines to facilitate the reporting process, with individuals residing in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions advised to dial 911, while those in other regions of the Kingdom are encouraged to call 999. This call to action aims to foster a collaborative effort between law enforcement agencies and the public in order to effectively address the persistent challenge of drug-related activities.
