Riyadh, July 22, 2023, General Directorate for Narcotics Control Spokesman Major Marwan Al-Hazmi shared some great news today! He announced that GDNC patrols successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 6,072,291 amphetamine pills. These pills were cleverly hidden in a shipment of sweets, citrus, and nuts. Thanks to the diligent efforts of our dedicated team, these illegal drugs will not reach our streets. The operation was successfully carried out in strong cooperation with Omani police and in excellent coordination with the Saudi Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority. Al-Hazmi happily announced that the smugglers, a Saudi national and a Syrian on a visit visa, have been apprehended and are now being referred to the Public Prosecution. Security agencies are encouraging the public to play an active role in combating drug smuggling or selling by promptly reporting any information they may have.
