Healthcare industry advances digitization, applications, Saudi Arabia service coverage
Riyadh, August 31, 2023, The healthcare industry has made many strides, including focusing on digitizing the health sector, releasing a number of applications like Sehhaty and Mawid, and expanding service coverage to include all of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Other achievements include improving the quality and efficiency of healthcare services and facilitating access to these services. The Saudi National Institute of Health (Saudi NIH) was founded as one of the efforts made by the Ministry of Health to attain the Kingdom's Vision 2030 by funding biomedical research in the health sector in order to increase the effectiveness and quality of this crucial sector. The Saudi NIH oversees clinical trials, translational research, and health research. To improve the health, well-being, and standard of living of society, the institute seeks to guarantee the effectiveness and quality of high-quality national health research outputs.
Dr. Faris Alenazi, CEO of the Saudi NIH, stated in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) that "the institute will promote prevention against health risks through research, development, and innovation in the development of health policies and strategies."
The Saudi NIH uses mechanisms to promote public health in the Kingdom," Alenazi continued, "including addressing health priorities for patients and health care providers, utilizing research outputs to develop health policies and strategies to support public health, and contributing to increasing the returns from health innovation through the development of innovative national products for prevention, diagnosis, and treatment."
