Hissein Brahim Taha addressed the OSBU General Assembly's opening session
Jeddah, October 2, 2023, Hissein Brahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), delivered a speech during the opening session of the OIC States Broadcasting Union (OSBU) General Assembly. He praised OSBU's dedication to enhancing radio and television sectors among OIC member states and acknowledged the significant support provided by Saudi Arabia to elevate the union's standards to match leading media institutions.
During his virtual address, Taha commended OSBU's recent achievements and its rapid progress in developing its operations. He emphasized the union's vital role in promoting a balanced religious and cultural discourse about Islam and Muslims, countering misrepresentations, and preserving the true message of Islam and its symbols.
Taha urged OSBU to intensify its efforts in creating engaging and balanced radio and television programs that convey the essence of Islam and its people. He stressed the importance of targeting Muslim youth and non-Muslim audiences by establishing collaborations with Western media organizations and utilizing the union's social media platforms and those of other OIC media institutions.
