HRH Crown Prince Issues Supreme Order Forming King Saud University's Board of Directors

Jeddah, July 25, 2023, In accordance with a Royal Order, King Saud University is set to undergo a significant transformation. The university will become an independent, non-profit academic institution, operating under the supervision of the Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC). This directive was issued by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who serves as the Crown Prince, Prime Minister, and Chairman of the RCRC's Board of Directors. As part of this process, a Supreme Order has been issued by the Crown Prince to establish the university's Board of Directors. In accordance with the recently issued Supreme Order, Youssef bin Abdullah Al-Bunyan has been appointed as the Chairman of the university's Board of Directors. Joining him in a key leadership role is the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development, who will serve as the Vice Chairman. The Board of Directors comprises a distinguished group of individuals from various sectors, each bringing their expertise and experience to the table. Among the notable members are government officials such as the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, and the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources. These individuals play a crucial role in shaping policies and strategies related to their respective fields. Additionally, the Board includes prominent figures from the academic and healthcare sectors, including the President of King Saud University and the CEO of King Faisal Specialist Hospital and Research Center. Their presence ensures a well-rounded perspective and consideration of the needs and advancements in these areas. Furthermore, the Governor of the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority, the CEO of the Riyadh Non-Profit Foundation, and the President of King Abdullah University of Science and Technology contribute their insights into fostering entrepreneurship, supporting non-profit initiatives, and promoting scientific research and innovation. The tourism sector is also represented on the Board, with the CEO of the Saudi Tourism Authority playing a vital role in driving the growth and development of this industry. Moreover, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Chambers of Commerce brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the business sector, ensuring that the interests of the private sector are well represented. Lastly, the Public Investment Fund is represented by a dedicated representative, Salman bin Mutaib Al-Sudairi, who brings a deep understanding of investment strategies and economic development. In summary, the Board of Directors is composed of a diverse group of individuals, each contributing their unique perspectives and expertise to guide and shape the organization's decisions and initiatives. In a historic moment, Al-Bunyan, the Chairman of the University's Board of Directors, conveyed his deep gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH the Crown Prince for their momentous decision to establish a new board of directors for King Saud University. Al-Bunyan expressed his sincere appreciation for being entrusted with the esteemed position of chairman, recognizing the significance of this appointment.
