ilmi and Princess Nourah University launch STREAM museum studies courses for women

Riyadh, April 18, 2024, ilmi, a Centre for Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STREAM) learning, and Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University (PNU), the world’s largest university for women, have announced the commencement of registration for a series of groundbreaking museum studies courses tailored to empower the next generation of professionals in the sector.

Commencing in April 2024, this comprehensive program encompasses micro-credential courses, diplomas, minors, and elective modules, catering to a wide range of individuals—from recent high-school graduates and university undergraduates seeking entry-level roles in museums to seasoned professionals aiming to broaden their skillsets, explore new career avenues, or re-enter the workforce.

Curated by experts from ilmi and PNU, representing diverse backgrounds from Saudi Arabia and worldwide, the program integrates a dynamic blend of online and in-person learning experiences, coupled with instruction in both Arabic and English languages.

The micro-credential courses, open to applicants aged eighteen and above, are a blend of online and offline formats and cover a spectrum of subjects including Museum Impact Studies, Museum Education and Awareness, Introduction to Museum Technologies, Fundamentals of Museum Management, and Best Practices for Integrating Digital Technology into Museums.

PNU students have access to specialized courses such as an Introduction to Museums elective, along with minors in Museums and Digital Technology, Exhibit Design, and Content Development. A two-year diploma in Museum Management is also on offer, catering to PNU students and recent high-school graduates alike.

Registration for the inaugural online micro-credential course, Fundamentals of Museum Management, is currently open with subsequent micro-credential courses scheduled for May and June. The diploma, minors, and elective programs will commence in September, coinciding with the start of the academic year 2024/5.

Graduates of the program will have the opportunity to collaborate with ilmi experts in crafting and implementing innovative STREAM learning programs across the Kingdom, further honing their newly acquired skills in a practical setting.
