Border Guards prevent khat smuggling in Al-Dayer Governorate

Jazan, July 26, 2023, In a commendable display of vigilance, Border Guard patrols operating in the Al-Dayer Governorate of Jazan Region successfully foiled an audacious attempt to smuggle a substantial quantity of khat. The illicit operation aimed to transport a staggering 285 kilograms of the banned substance across the border undetected. Thanks to the swift and decisive actions of the Border Guard, this nefarious endeavor was promptly brought to a halt, preventing the illegal distribution of this harmful substance. In a recent development, legal action has been initiated, resulting in the confiscation of contraband items. These illicit goods have now been duly handed over to the relevant authority, marking a significant step towards upholding the law. In a bid to combat the illicit drug trade, security authorities have issued a public appeal, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to drug smuggling or selling. The authorities have designated emergency hotlines for this purpose, with individuals residing in Makkah, Riyadh, and the Eastern regions advised to dial 911, while those in other regions of the Kingdom are encouraged to call 999. By actively engaging the public in this fight against narcotics, authorities hope to curb the prevalence of drug-related crimes and ensure the safety and well-being of the nation's residents.
