Joint Arab Islamic Ministerial Committee Meets Chinese Vice President to Discuss Gaza Crisis

Beijing, November 20, 2023, Ministerial Committee appointed by the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit convened a meeting with the Vice President of the People's Republic of China, Mr. Han Zheng, in Beijing. Chaired by His Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Saudi Arabia, the committee included representatives from Jordan, Egypt, Palestine, Indonesia, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.

The Chinese Vice President commended the efforts of the Joint Arab Islamic Extraordinary Summit in Riyadh and expressed support for the resulting decisions aimed at de-escalation, civilian protection, and peace restoration. He affirmed China's commitment to collaborating with the ministerial committee to continue diplomatic efforts and play a more significant role in resolving the crisis.

China has actively worked toward a ceasefire in Gaza, emphasizing the importance of coordinating with Arab and Islamic nations. The committee members lauded China's consistent stance on the Gaza crisis, particularly in the United Nations Security Council, where China has played a positive role advocating for a ceasefire.

During the meeting, the committee and the Chinese Vice President discussed the urgent need for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, safeguarding civilians, and protecting vital facilities such as hospitals and places of worship. The committee members stressed the importance of halting military escalation, preventing forced displacement, and establishing safe corridors for humanitarian aid. They emphasized the international community's responsibility, especially the Security Council's permanent members, to address Israeli violations of international laws and humanitarian standards.

In conclusion, the ministerial committee reaffirmed the urgency of reviving the peace process based on international resolutions, ensuring the rights of the Palestinian people, and establishing an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital. The committee urged the international community to act swiftly to address the ongoing crisis in Gaza.
