KAUST and SABIC co-host inaugural SABIC Day, advancing Saudi research

Jeddah, April 04, 2024, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) and Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) recently co-hosted the inaugural SABIC Day at KAUST, marking a significant step in their shared dedication to advancing research and development initiatives in Saudi Arabia.

The event served as a platform to showcase the burgeoning collaboration between academic and industrial leaders, with a strong emphasis on key areas such as circular economy practices, carbon neutrality strategies, and the development of innovative solutions.

Dr. Bob Maughon, SABIC’s Executive Vice President of Sustainability, Technology, and Innovation, underscored the potential for deeper synergies and partnerships that align closely with the ambitious objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030. These objectives notably include the establishment of a technologically advanced and sustainable economy, highlighting the pivotal role of collaborations between industry and academia in achieving such goals.

KAUST President Tony Chan lauded the significance of the event, describing it as a "pivotal moment" that reflects SABIC's unwavering commitment to driving innovation and sustainability within the Kingdom and beyond.
