Riyadh, January 8, 2024, The King Faisal Prize is set to unveil its 2024 laureates on January 10 in Riyadh. Specialized selection committees for the five award categories—Islamic Studies, Service to Islam, Arabic Language and Literature, Medicine, and Science—have convened from January 8 to 10 to determine the winners. On the final day, Prince Turki bin Faisal bin Abdulaziz will preside over the committee responsible for selecting the laureate of the Service to Islam prize, according to a press release from the organizers.

The General Secretariat of the Prize, in 2022, outlined the domains for the 46th edition of the King Faisal Prize for 2024. The categories and themes include Islamic Studies ("Islamic Legislation and its Contemporary Applications"), Arabic Language and Literature (“Non-Arab Institutions and their Endeavours to Promote Arabic Language”), Medicine (“Management of Peripheral Disabilities”), and Science (“Biology”).

Nominations for the King Faisal Prize are submitted by scientific institutions, universities, research centers, and scientific and language councils. Eligibility criteria stipulate that the nominated individual must be alive, and the nominated work should be published, informative, and contribute to the enrichment of knowledge for the development of humanity. Nominations from individuals or political parties are not accepted.

This year, the prize selection committees include experts, specialists, and scholars from 22 different countries who have gathered in Riyadh to evaluate the nominated works and select the laureates objectively and transparently, adhering to the rules and regulations set by the General Secretariat of the Prize.

The committee for the Service to Islam Prize, chaired by Prince Turki Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, comprises leading scholars in Islamic law and jurisprudence. The announcement of the selected laureates for 2024 in the five different categories will take place on January 10 in the main lecture hall of the King Faisal Foundation building in Riyadh.
