Abha, September 6, 2023, At the Worldinvent 2023 Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in Singapore, King Khalid University took home three gold awards, one silver, and a special award from China in recognition of the university's initiatives being the finest entrepreneurial ventures in the competition. Medical student Rayan Mohammed Al-Qahtani won the gold medals for his project, "Smart Medical Bed," which improves the efficiency of the emergency room and helps doctors monitor patients' conditions continuously and handle cases directly after being given the go-ahead by the prescribing doctor. Saeed Turki Al-Wadi, a student at the Faculty of Computer Science, won a gold medal for his "FETHABOT" project, which is a smart robot that interacts with people inside buildings, helps guests and people with disabilities get to their destinations more easily, and responds to their questions using artificial intelligence and a number of auxiliary technologies.
Muna Hassan Mishta, a student at the Faculty of Computer Science, entered the "Fire Hawk Drone" project, which won the third gold medal. Fire Hawk Drone employs drones with AI cameras to send reports on the condition of trapped people before emergency responders and civil defense personnel arrive at the scene.
The silver medal went to students Maram Awad Al-Qahtani and Shaima Hmoud Al-Asiri from the Faculty of Computer Science for their "Eye Expression Survey Tool" project, which uses artificial intelligence to read pupil patterns and conditions to help teachers gauge students' levels of concentration in the classroom.
