King Salman Launches 4th National Campaign for Charitable Work to Enhance Ramadan Giving

In a significant move to fortify charitable efforts during the holy month of Ramadan, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, has given his approval for the commencement of the 4th National Campaign for Charitable Work. Scheduled to kick off on Friday, March 15, 2024, on the National Platform for Charitable Work, known as Ehsan, the initiative aims to amplify the impact of charitable giving across the Kingdom.

King Salman, a longstanding supporter of charitable causes, has authorized the campaign to run throughout the sacred month of Ramadan, allowing for continuous donations until the month's conclusion. The move reflects the ongoing dedication of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, to upholding charitable work—a fundamental tenet of Islamic law (Sharia).

The campaign's objective is to create opportunities for all citizens to engage in acts of charity, fostering community solidarity during the auspicious month of Ramadan, a time when virtuous deeds are believed to be multiplied.

Expressing gratitude, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Chairman of the Ehsan Platform's Supervisory Committee, lauded the unwavering support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and HRH the Crown Prince for the platform. The National Campaign for Charitable Work follows the resounding success of previous editions, with the 2023 campaign achieving donations exceeding SAR 760 million ($202,626,191.60). These contributions positively impacted over 398,000 individuals through more than 10.4 million donation transactions. Notably, the campaign secured a Guinness World Record for the largest single-day donation within 24 hours, underscoring the remarkable community solidarity on the 27th night of Ramadan last year.

Donors can contribute digitally to various charitable and developmental causes throughout the campaign. Moreover, contributions can be directed towards the Ehsan Endowment Fund, with all transactions conducted securely through the Ehsan app, Ehsan.sa website, or by calling the unified number: 8001247000.

Established by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) under a Royal decree, the Ehsan platform operates under the oversight of a supervisory committee comprising 13 government agencies. This robust governance structure aligns with national efforts to digitally empower the charity sector, further solidifying the Kingdom's position as a global leader in charitable giving. Since its inception, the platform has received over SAR 5 billion ($1,338,287,450) in donations, benefiting more than 4.8 million individuals from various eligible groups.
