Kingdom to host World Environment Day in 2024: UNEP

Riyadh, September 13, 2023, The Kingdom will host World Environment Day in 2024, according to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The declaration was made during a meeting between Saudi Ambassador to Kenya Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Salman and UNEP Executive Director Inger Andersen on Tuesday in Nairobi. The fact that the Kingdom is hosting World Environment Day demonstrates how important and effective the Saudi government is in the environmental sector, in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030 and the wise leadership's directions.

The annual celebration of World Environment Day on June 5 has grown over the past 50 years into one of the biggest global venues for environmental awareness.
