Mawani launches Port Community System for enhanced logistics services

Riyadh, March 06, 2024, In a recent press release, the Saudi Ports Authority, known as "Mawani," has unveiled the launch of the Port Community System (PCS) as an integral component of the unified logistics platform, "Logisti." This initiative aims to deliver over 250 electronic services across Mawani's Saudi ports, thereby bolstering the Kingdom's global presence within the logistics services sector.

Omar Hariri, President of the Saudi Ports Authority, emphasized that the introduction of the Port Community System (PCS) underscores Mawani's commitment to leveraging technology for the advancement of maritime transport systems. This move is poised to enhance operational efficiency across Saudi Arabia's port network, streamline procedures, and fortify the logistics services and maritime transport sectors.

Hariri further elaborated that this milestone achievement represents a significant developmental stride, aligned with overarching economic and social objectives. By establishing a unified digital platform adhering to international standards, administrative transactions between public and private sector stakeholders will be consolidated under one umbrella.

The primary objective of the Port Community System, unveiled during the third edition of the International Technical Conference, "LEAP24," is to automate operational processes within ports, foster seamless data exchange between relevant entities in the government and private sectors, standardize procedures, and optimize operational mechanisms between users and government service providers.

Additionally, the system is poised to enhance stakeholder and beneficiary experiences, bolster the Smart Ports initiative, elevate operational service efficiency, heighten the competitiveness of Saudi Arabia's maritime transport sector, and amplify productivity within the ports sector. These objectives are in alignment with the goals outlined in the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS) and the overarching vision of Saudi Vision 2030 to position the Kingdom as a global logistics hub connecting continents.

The "Leap 24" conference serves as a pivotal platform uniting innovators and investors in the technology sphere, reinforcing the Kingdom's technological prowess and asserting its status as a trailblazing event of global significance.

Mawani initiated the Smart Ports initiative in the first quarter of 2022, aiming to accelerate the adoption of fifth-generation technologies within the logistics sector. This initiative positions Saudi ports as pioneers in implementing modern technologies, enhancing regional and international competitiveness in goods trading, and catering to importers and exporters, thereby fostering a flourishing digital economy.
