Minister Al-Swaha discusses digital cooperation with ITU Secretary-General Bogdan-Martin

Davos, January 16, 2024, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Eng. Abdullah bin Amer Al-Swaha, engaged in discussions on Monday with the Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Doreen Bogdan-Martin, to explore avenues for strengthening cooperation and promoting digital inclusion. The talks also delved into the stimulation of partnerships and initiatives aimed at global connectivity, individual empowerment, and environmental protection.

Part of the Saudi delegation's participation in the annual World Economic Forum meeting in Davos, the meeting underscored the significance of expanding collaborations to nurture the growth of the digital economy. It emphasized seizing opportunities in generative artificial intelligence, fostering national digital skills, and enabling digital entrepreneurship.

Eng. Al-Swaha also convened with leaders of prominent global technology and innovation companies to enhance partnerships in the digital economy and innovation sectors. The discussions centered around developing solutions and technologies related to cloud computing, generative artificial intelligence, and strengthening the digital capabilities of Saudis in emerging technologies while localizing digital content.

Furthermore, the minister held meetings with Alexander Wang, the Founder and CEO of Scale AI, and Borje Ekholm, the President and CEO of the Ericsson Group, aiming to explore partnerships, exchange expertise, and promote the growth of the digital economy and innovation. These interactions highlight Saudi Arabia's commitment to leveraging technological advancements for economic development and fostering innovation on both the national and global scales.
