Ministry assesses Arab Poetry Research Grant, attracting passionate researchers

Riyadh, August 17, 2023, The Ministry of Culture has successfully completed the meticulous evaluation process for the Arab Poetry Research Grant. Launched in collaboration with World Poetry Day, observed every year on March 21, this initiative specifically aimed to attract passionate and knowledgeable researchers in the diverse realms of Arab poetry, both within and beyond the borders of the Kingdom. In a recent announcement, the ministry gave its approval to a total of 20 research titles originating from eight different Arab countries. In a groundbreaking collaboration, the Ministry of Culture and the Literature, Publishing, and Translation Commission have joined forces to unveil a remarkable grant. This grant, a pivotal component of the esteemed "Arab Poetry Year 2023" Initiative, has been introduced with the noble aim of honoring and celebrating the profound significance of Arab poetry in both Saudi and Arab culture. In a bid to elevate the prominence of Arab poetry within society, a grant has been launched with the aim of achieving several key objectives. These include bolstering the status of Arab poetry in the cultural landscape, fostering a flourishing and enduring creative environment for poets, and shedding light on the cultural significance of poetry while recognizing its deep roots in the history of the Arabian Peninsula. In a remarkable achievement, the prestigious King Saud University has secured a prominent position in the global academic landscape. According to the highly regarded 2023 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), this esteemed institution has been ranked an impressive 101st in the world. Not only has King Saud University claimed this prestigious global standing, but it has also emerged as the leading university in both Saudi Arabia and the entire Arab world. This remarkable feat is a testament to the university's unwavering commitment to excellence in education and research, solidifying its position as a trailblazer in the region.

The prestigious Shanghai Ranking Consultancy has recently unveiled its highly anticipated annual release of the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU). This comprehensive ranking system meticulously evaluates approximately 2,000 universities from across the globe, ultimately presenting the top 1,000 institutions to the public. The standard of instruction offered, the caliber of the faculty, the volume of research done, and the academic performance on a per capita basis all play a role in the institution's ranking.
