MoFA voices disappointment at UN Security Council's Palestine resolution failure

Riyadh, April 19, 2024, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA) expressed Saudi Arabia's disappointment over the UN Security Council's failure to pass a draft resolution approving full UN membership for the State of Palestine. In a press release, MoFA emphasized that blocking Palestine's full membership perpetuates the Israeli occupation forces' intransigence and their ongoing violations of international law with impunity, which hinders the path to desired peace.

MoFA reiterated the Kingdom's call for the international community to step up and halt Israeli attacks on civilians in the Gaza Strip. It also urged support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination and the establishment of their state based on the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital. This stance aligns with the Arab Peace Initiative and other relevant international resolutions aimed at achieving a just and lasting peace in the region.
