NAUSS to host workshop on Drone Security Applications in Riyadh

Riyadh, August 24, 2023, The prestigious Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) is set to host an enlightening workshop in Riyadh, focusing on the multifaceted applications of drones in the realm of security. The event, titled "Uses of Drones in Security Fields: Opportunities, Challenges, and Policies," is scheduled to take place from the 28th to the 30th of August. This significant gathering is being organized in collaboration with the esteemed Korea Institute for Aviation Safety Technology (KIAST) and will witness the participation of esteemed experts and specialists hailing from Arab nations, the United States of America, the Republic of Korea, Malaysia, and Interpol. In a recent statement, Khaled Al-Harfash, the Vice President for External Relations at the university, highlighted the significance of a workshop organized by the institution. Al-Harfash emphasized that this workshop is a crucial component of the university's commitment to addressing the security requirements of the Arab region. As the esteemed scientific body of the Arab Interior Ministers Council, the university aims to stay updated with the latest advancements in the field of security. Specifically, the workshop will focus on the emerging developments in autonomous vehicles, including drones. In a recent statement, he highlighted the concerning consequences arising from the swift advancements in robotics and artificial intelligence. These developments have not only given rise to a multitude of security threats but have also been exploited by terrorists and criminals for their nefarious activities. Additionally, they have prompted the formulation of comprehensive policies aimed at regulating their utilization across various sectors, including security and commerce. In a recent statement, Al-Harfash highlighted the establishment of a groundbreaking initiative by the National Authority for Universal Security Services (NAUSS). This initiative comes in the form of a cutting-edge center dedicated to combating cybercrime and handling digital evidence. The center offers a comprehensive training program that encompasses four distinct tracks, with a specific focus on digital forensic evidence for mobile phones and drones. The primary objective of this program is to equip Arab trainees with the necessary skills and expertise in these specialized areas, in accordance with international best practices. Al-Harfash emphasized the center's ambitious vision of becoming the foremost reference point in the Arab world for empowering Arab professionals in the field of cybercrime and digital evidence. By providing top-notch training and fostering the development of Arab competencies, the center aims to bridge the existing gap and establish a strong foothold in this rapidly evolving domain.
