NCM predicts moderate, torrential thundershowers in several regions today

Riyadh, August 17, 2023, As per the latest report from the National Center of Meteorology (NCM), several regions, including Najan, Jazan, Asir, Baha, and Makkah, are expected to experience a continuation of moderate and torrential thundershowers today. These intense rain showers will be accompanied by strong winds, as predicted by the NCM. Thundershowers, accompanied by strong winds, are still expected in certain areas of Tabuk, Madinah, and the Eastern region. Additionally, the sky will be partly cloudy with thunderstorms in select parts of Riyadh, Qassim, and Hail regions. In the northern region of the country, winds are expected to blow from the north to the northwest, with speeds ranging from 15 to 45 km/h.Moving towards the central part, the wind direction will shift from northwesterly to southwesterly, with speeds ranging from 15 to 32 km/h.Further south, the winds will be coming from the southwest to the south, with speeds ranging from 15 to 40km/h and potentially exceeding 45 km/h.Thunderstorms are also anticipated in the southern part of the country. In the Arabian Gulf, the wind is expected to blow from the south to southeast, with speeds ranging from 15 to 35km/h.
