OIC approves Jamaica's recognition of the State of Palestine

Jeddah, April 24, 2024, The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has expressed its approval of Jamaica's recent decision to recognize the State of Palestine. In a statement, the OIC highlighted the significance of this move, noting that it aligns with international law and relevant United Nations resolutions. Additionally, the OIC reiterated its support for the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, including their entitlement to establish an independent Palestinian state with east Jerusalem as its capital.

Encouraging other nations to follow suit, the OIC called on those countries that have not yet recognized the State of Palestine to do so. The organization's statement emphasized the importance of international efforts to achieve a just and lasting peace in the region, emphasizing implementing the two-state solution as outlined in various international agreements.
