OIC commends humanitarian workers' selflessness on World Humanitarian Day

Jeddah, August 19, 2023, On the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, observed annually on August 19, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has commended the remarkable dedication and selflessness exhibited by humanitarian workers in their tireless endeavors to rescue and safeguard the lives of individuals facing severe hardships and requiring urgent assistance. In a statement released by the general secretariat of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Jeddah, it was emphasized that on the occasion of World Humanitarian Day, it is crucial to acknowledge the numerous humanitarian challenges faced by the Islamic world. The OIC highlighted the alarming negative developments that are unfolding, underscoring the urgent need to intensify and coordinate efforts in order to alleviate their impact. Furthermore, the organization reaffirmed its unwavering dedication to fostering and coordinating collective Islamic action in the realm of humanitarian aid, rooted in Islamic values.

The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) diligently adheres to its charter and pertinent decisions when tackling humanitarian crises. It proactively establishes mechanisms to effectively respond to challenges while also collaborating closely with member states, relevant institutions, and agencies. Notably, the OIC works in close coordination with the Islamic Solidarity Fund to ensure efficient relief efforts. Additionally, the organization actively mobilizes resources to provide humanitarian assistance and consistently forges strategic partnerships, all in alignment with its principles and objectives.
