Jeddah, September 03, 2023, On the occasion of OIC Youth Day, Hissein Brahim Taha, secretary general of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), congratulated the young people in the OIC member states. Taha applauded the member nations' efforts as well as the programs started by institutions and organizations dedicated to promoting youth involvement and empowerment. The OIC General Secretariat decided on the theme of "Youth Volunteerism and Social Responsibility" for the OIC Youth Day 2023 in cooperation with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Sports and the Chair of the 5th Session of the Islamic Conference of Youth and Sports Ministers (ICYS), according to the secretary-general.
Taha asked the organization's member nations and their institutions to encourage and support youth volunteerism. He stressed that the goal of volunteerism is to increase involvement that develops human capabilities and skills, achieve social solidarity, and demonstrate the vitality of a community and the willingness of its individuals to make sacrifices and dedicate themselves to improving their societies.
