OIC welcomes Maldives Anti-Corruption Commission President Shamil and delegation

Jeddah, August 24, 2023, In a significant meeting held today at the esteemed headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat in Jeddah, Ambassador Samir Bakr, the Assistant Secretary-General of the OIC for Palestine and Al-Quds Affairs, warmly welcomed the esteemed President of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Maldives, Adam Shamil, along with a delegation of high-ranking officials from the Commission. In a recent meeting, the Assistant Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) commended the Maldives for its active participation within the organization. The Assistant Secretary-General specifically highlighted the Maldives' significant contributions to advancing the objectives and principles outlined in the OIC Charter. Furthermore, the Assistant Secretary-General acknowledged the Maldives' efforts in fostering unity and solidarity among the Islamic Ummah. In a recent statement, he emphasized the significance of putting into action the Makkah Al Mukarramah Convention of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Member States on Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Cooperation. This convention was adopted during the OIC Ministerial Meeting that took place in December 2022. The President of the Anti-Corruption Commission of the Republic of Maldives has expressed gratitude towards the OIC for its significant contribution to advancing integrity, good governance, and the fight against corruption. The President acknowledged the crucial role played by the OIC in fostering collaboration among its member states to combat corruption effectively. Furthermore, the President sought assistance from the OIC in bolstering cooperation between the Maldives and specialized institutions within the organization.
