Powerful earthquake hits western Afghanistan, causing nearly 2,000 deaths

Herat, October 11, 2023, A portion of western Afghanistan has been rattled by another powerful earthquake, which struck there on Saturday and killed almost 2,000 people. According to the U.S., the 6.3-magnitude earthquake struck around 28 kilometers outside the Herat province's capital on Wednesday morning. Geophysical Survey, according to AP. The previous earthquake that hit Herat was similarly 6.3 in magnitude and was followed by a number of powerful aftershocks.
