Prince Badr launches Arabic Language Month in Beijing, Shanghai

Beijing, March 28, 2024, Prince Badr bin Abdullah bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Culture and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language (KSGAAL), has initiated the Arabic Language Month program in Beijing and Shanghai, marking a significant endeavor to promote linguistic and cultural exchange.

Spanning from March 28 to April 26, 2024, the program, orchestrated by the academy, encompasses a plethora of scholarly initiatives and engagements in collaboration with various educational institutions. Its primary objectives include refining Arabic language teaching methodologies, enhancing the proficiency of educators, and broadening the language's dissemination.

A pivotal aspect of the program entails interactions with Chinese universities offering Arabic academic programs, as well as with organizations and centers dedicated to Arabic language instruction and propagation in China.

Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, Secretary-General of KSGAAL, emphasized the academy's proactive stance in advancing the Arabic language, underscoring the significance of this program in elevating its global presence and fostering Arabic language acquisition among non-native speakers. Notably, a partnership with Beijing Language and Culture University will culminate in a scientific competition targeting Arabic language learners, spanning recitation, storytelling, and Arabic calligraphy categories.

Over the course of four weeks, including three in Beijing and one in Shanghai, the program will feature a scientific symposium, two discussion panels, scientific visits, and four teacher training courses. These courses aim to hone language proficiency skills, emphasizing active teaching strategies for Arabic as a second language.

The Arabic Language Month in China program is part of the broader "Scientific Programs on Arabic Language Teaching" project overseen by KSGAAL. Building on successful implementations in countries such as India, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Indonesia, the academy remains committed to extending this initiative as a cornerstone of its international endeavors in linguistics and culture.
