Tabuk, Saudi Arabia, February 17, 2024, In a rare occurrence, the Al-Lawz Mountains, located northwest of the city of Tabuk, experienced a picturesque snowfall yesterday, covering the mountainous terrain in a thick blanket of snow for the second time in February. This event is particularly noteworthy as it contrasts with the atypically warm weather that characterized the month, causing a delay in the onset of snowfall compared to the previous year.
The National Center of Meteorology (NCM) explained that the unusual warmth during the winter months, which did not see temperatures drop below zero degrees Celsius, was attributed to atmospheric variations and the absence of humid southern winds. This climate pattern resulted in the Marbaniya season concluding without any significant temperature drops.
Despite the delayed snowfall, the spectacle of Al-Lawz Mountains covered in snow remains highly anticipated by the Kingdom's population. The NCM emphasized the unique beauty of the scene, with an SPA team spending more than 72 hours in Al-Lawz Mountains to document and record the snowfall. This annual occurrence, where the 2,600-meter-high mountains transform into a stunning landscape adorned in pure white, holds a special place in the hearts of the Kingdom's residents.
