Riyadh, October 11, 2023, The fourth night of the Saudi Falcons Club Auction, held at their headquarters in Malham, north of Riyadh over 45 days, featured the sale of a prestigious peregrine falcon, known locally as a shaheen, hailing from Al-Awiqila city in the Northern Borders Region. Bidding commenced at SAR60,000 and concluded at SAR250,000.
On the first night, another shaheen from Al-Lith city, Makkah Region, fetched SAR135,000. Subsequent auction nights are expected to set new sales records.
This auction aligns with the leadership's commitment to preserving the heritage of falconry, offering support to falconers in Saudi Arabia and the wider region, and fostering cultural and economically significant falconry events.
The proceeds will be invested in falcon-related ventures, fostering additional auctions and streamlining the buying and selling process. The Saudi Falcons Club offers accommodations and transportation for falcon owners, with live broadcast coverage on television channels and the club's social media platforms.
