SFDA CEO meets Malaysian halal product institutions, productive discussions held

Kuala Lumpur, April 25, 2024, Dr. Hisham bin Saad Aljadhey, Chief Executive of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA), recently engaged in productive meetings with various Malaysian scientific institutions specializing in halal products. The purpose of these meetings was to facilitate knowledge exchange and gain insights into the services and expertise provided by these institutions.

During his visit to Malaysia, Aljadhey visited the University of Putra Malaysia, where he had the opportunity to observe firsthand the university's scientific programs and the ongoing research conducted at its Halal Products Research Institute (IPPH). The IPPH plays a crucial role in advancing research on halal products at both local and international levels, positioning the university as a leader in this field.

Additionally, Aljadhey visited the Malaysia Halal Analysis Center (MyHAC), a dedicated facility that supports and enhances the halal certification program. MyHAC has established international laboratories equipped with advanced analytical capabilities for conducting chemical, physical, and biotechnological testing of halal products. During his visit, Aljadhey familiarized himself with the comprehensive range of analytical services offered by MyHAC, which are instrumental in ensuring the integrity and compliance of halal products.

These meetings and visits underscore the SFDA's commitment to collaborating with international partners and leveraging their expertise in the field of halal products. By fostering relationships with leading scientific institutions like the University of Putra Malaysia and MyHAC, the SFDA aims to enhance its knowledge base, improve regulatory practices, and ultimately ensure the safety and authenticity of halal products for consumers.
