
Riyadh, January 29, 2025 – The Saudi fencing team has emerged victorious at the 2025 Arab Fencing Championship, which concluded yesterday in Bahrain. The team’s impressive performance secured them first place in the overall team rankings, with a total of 60 medals—16 gold, 17 silver, and 27 bronze—demonstrating the country’s dominance in the sport. This victory marks yet another milestone in Saudi Arabia’s growing presence in international fencing, as the team showcased both skill and consistency across all categories and disciplines.
The championship, which brought together 12 nations from across the Arab world, included fierce competition from countries such as Oman, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Qatar, Egypt, Kuwait, Bahrain, Iraq, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen, and Libya. Saudi Arabia’s top finish in the standings was a clear reflection of their preparation, depth of talent, and strong team dynamics. Oman claimed second place with 21 medals—eight gold, eight silver, and five bronze—while the UAE rounded out the top three with a total of seven medals, consisting of three gold, one silver, and three bronze.
The Saudi team, which was made up of 127 athletes, including 42 women and 85 men, participated across a range of age categories, including senior, under 15, under 13, and under 11, as well as in all three fencing disciplines—épée, foil, and sabre—both in individual and team events. The extensive participation across these categories underscored the Saudi Fencing Federation’s commitment to developing talent at all levels, from youth to senior athletes.
