World Patient Safety Day on September 17 recognizes WHO's efforts

Jeddah, September 17, 2023, Every year on September 17, all nations observe World Patient Safety Day to recognize that the World Health Organization (WHO) has made patient safety a top priority worldwide. Every year, a topic related to patient safety is selected to increase awareness and encourage beneficial changes in health systems all around the world. The theme for this year is "Elevate the Voice of Patients," which aims to increase public awareness of the significance of including patients and their families in order to provide safer healthcare.

With the cooperation and support of non-health parties through lectures and seminars, the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC) is collaborating with the health sector authorities to approve the implementation of quality improvement and safety procedures related to the health care of patients and their families. This is done in order to strengthen the concept of health care.

The yearly occurrence of World Patient Safety Day, according to Dr. Ali Asery, Director General of the Saudi Patient Safety Center (SPSC), reaffirms the officials' commitment to giving patients the authority to improve their own safety by being attentive to their concerns and complaints.
