Sports Sector Conference reveals infrastructure and club support figures

Riyadh hosted the periodic Sports Sector Conference organized by the Ministry of Sport to discuss sports clubs, facilities, the sports system, and preparations for the upcoming season.

According to SPA, the conference highlighted achievements of various programs and initiatives supporting the sector in the Kingdom.

Thamer Basanbal, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sport for Sports Facilities, announced that the Imam Mohammad Ibn Saud Islamic University stadium is ready with a capacity exceeding 25,000 seats following cooperation with the Ministry of Education. He noted that King Fahd International Stadium in Riyadh underwent development to host the 2027 Asian Cup, with a second phase focusing on FIFA updates for the 2034 World Cup, including technologies to be used for the first time.

Abdulaziz Al-Musaad, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Sport for Sports and Youth Affairs, stated that any club in the Saudi League applying all strategy criteria could reach support levels of nearly 120 million. He mentioned that the Ministry supports 180 clubs, including those for the deaf and people with disabilities, noting that 25 clubs have had their administrations appointed by the Ministry. Al-Musaad also highlighted a commercial revenue increase initiative valued at 54 million riyals, covering commercial activities and sponsorships.

The conference also included a presentation by Ibrahim Al-Dakhil, Director of Legislation and Contracts at the Ministry of Sport, regarding the sports system project.
