Forty modern devices and equipment, 8,250 safety items, and 100 tonnes of control products have been provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the Emergency Fund of the Commission for Controlling the Desert Locust in the Central Region (CRC) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
According to SPA, the handover was formalized through a protocol signed by the National Center for Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa), the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and the CRC, in the presence of Weqaa Director General Engineer Ayman Alghamdi.
The support aims to improve rapid response efficiency and ensure personnel safety during control operations within the Commission’s member countries. Weqaa stated that this initiative is part of Saudi efforts to support regional and international initiatives to enhance food security and reduce the impact of transboundary pests and disasters.
