SABIC co-hosts Boao Forum for Asia conference in Riyadh

Riyadh, December 1, 2025: The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) co-hosted the Boao Forum for Asia (BFA) Conference 2025 in Riyadh and announced the extension of its honorary strategic partnership with BFA for a seventh consecutive year, according to the Saudi Press Agency. The gathering brought together policymakers and industry leaders to discuss cooperation on global and regional priorities, with Saudi Arabia serving as a convening platform for dialogue linking Asia, the Middle East, and international partners.

In his address to the conference, SABIC Chief Executive Officer and Boao Forum for Asia Board Member Eng. Abdulrahman Al-Fageeh said the event serves as a vital platform to foster collaboration across sectors, regions, and production chains. He underscored that such engagement can boost trade and investment, support the energy transition, and advance shared sustainable development goals—areas where Saudi institutions and companies are intensifying their contributions.

The Boao Forum for Asia, a leading international forum headquartered in Hainan, China, convenes government, business, and academic leaders to promote economic cooperation and policy dialogue across Asia and beyond. Hosting the 2025 conference in Riyadh reflects the Kingdom’s growing role as an international hub for consensus-building on development, energy, and innovation, reinforcing its outreach to Asian partners and global stakeholders.

SABIC, a global leader in diversified chemicals headquartered in Riyadh, plays a central role in the Kingdom’s industrial base and export competitiveness. Through advanced materials and technology-driven solutions, the company supports national priorities in manufacturing resilience, downstream diversification, and lower-carbon innovation, contributing to Saudi Arabia’s broader strategy to create value-added industries and high-skilled jobs.

By extending the honorary strategic partnership with BFA, SABIC and the forum reaffirm their long-standing collaboration. According to the official announcement, the renewed partnership is aimed at deepening knowledge exchange, strengthening business-to-business and policy dialogues, and supporting initiatives that connect industrial ecosystems across Asia and the Middle East, including in chemicals, advanced materials, and clean technology.

Saudi officials emphasized that the Riyadh conference addressed pressing global and regional challenges where cross-border collaboration can deliver tangible benefits. Drawing on themes highlighted by SABIC’s leadership, discussions focused on enhancing trade and investment flows, aligning production chains with efficiency and sustainability goals, and accelerating pragmatic pathways for the energy transition consistent with national development objectives.

For international partners, the gathering in Riyadh signaled expanded opportunities to align capital, technology, and policy frameworks around resilient supply chains and climate-conscious growth. The Kingdom’s emphasis on industrial innovation, energy efficiency, and the circular economy complements Asia’s manufacturing depth and market scale, offering a practical platform for co-investment, joint research, and skills development across key sectors.

The continuation of the SABIC–BFA partnership is intended to support future programming that brings together public- and private-sector leaders for thematic forums, working groups, and research exchanges. These activities aim to translate dialogue into implementable initiatives that help enterprises navigate regulatory standards, advance sustainable industrial practices, and identify investment-ready projects with clear social and economic benefits.

Looking ahead, the conference outcomes and the strengthened SABIC–BFA collaboration align with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 agenda to diversify the economy, increase non-oil exports, and position Saudi Arabia as a global hub for investment and innovation. By hosting high-level platforms and catalyzing partnerships that advance trade, technology, and sustainability, Saudi Arabia is reinforcing its role as a constructive, forward-looking bridge between Asia and the world.
