Industry Ministry establishes non-profit lighting manufacturers association

Riyadh is the site of a new non-profit lighting manufacturers association established to develop the lighting products and solutions industry in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

The Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources announced the move via SPA as part of efforts to empower non-profit organizations in the industrial and mining sectors to support economic and social development.

The association focuses on building national expertise in the testing, design, and manufacturing of smart control systems and lighting products. It aims to protect intellectual property rights, cultivate an innovation ecosystem, and support scientific research through cooperation with academic institutions and universities. Additionally, the body will represent the Kingdom in international and local exhibitions.

Operational goals include enhancing communication between decision-makers and investors, representing national manufacturers on regulatory and technical committees, and helping factories obtain international accreditations and quality certifications for export markets. The association will also contribute to technical regulations and standards for lighting products.

To facilitate technical expertise and information exchange, a comprehensive database will be established. The association also plans to organize an annual lighting industry forum for consultants, developers, manufacturers, and government entities.

The ministry stated this alignment with its strategy to increase the non-profit sector’s direct contribution to the national GDP in line with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives.
