Cairo will host a regional workshop titled “The Date Sector Facing Geopolitical Repercussions: Future Challenges and Solutions” from August 16 to 18. The event is organized by the International Date Council (IDC) in cooperation with the Agricultural Research Center (ARC) of the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation of the Arab Republic of Egypt.
According to SPA, the workshop brings together experts, specialists, and representatives from several Arab countries. The participants will examine the impact of geopolitical and environmental developments on the date sector, focusing on challenges related to production, trade, markets, and supply chains.
The program includes specialized sessions on global date trade evolution between 2021 and 2025, as well as the impact of geopolitical shifts on supply chains and marketing in local and international markets. Additional sessions will cover international maritime transport, logistical challenges, food safety and quality requirements, and the role of accreditation systems in supporting exports.
The event features scientific and field visits to laboratories, farms, and specialized production facilities. It will conclude with the adoption of recommendations regarding sector challenges and future solutions. The IDC aims through this workshop to strengthen the exchange of expertise among concerned countries regarding production and marketing developments.
